About DVGBC
The Delaware Valley Green Building Council was formed in November 2001 by a group of individuals representing many sectors of the area’s construction related industry with a common interest in promoting sustainable design in the Delaware Valley. With the generous initial support of the Carpenter’s Company of Philadelphia and The Pennsylvania Resources Council and many other volunteer efforts the group is now established as an independent 501(c)(3) and is affiliated with the national USGBC.

Our goal is to become the regional point of contact for users, agencies and companies interested in green building; and to foster cooperation and collaboration among organizations dedicated to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to advance and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible planning, design, construction and operation of the region’s buildings, landscapes, cities and communities, mindful of the legacy left for future generations.

Why did we form DVGBC?
The resources required for creating, operating, and replenishing our current level of infrastructure are enormous, yet the resources available for such activity are diminishing. To remain competitive and to continue to expand and produce profits in the future, the building industry must address the economic and environmental consequences of its actions. This need is driving the building industry to develop and market products that are more environmentally and economically viable.

What is USGBC?
The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work.

The building industry needs a single entity to provide it with integration, leadership, and education. Since its formation in 1993, the U.S. Green Building Council has fulfilled this need, becoming the center for debate and action on environmental issues facing the industry’s multiple interests.
