Committees and Their Missions 

Executive Committee:
In accordance with the By-Laws provide leadership and oversight for the organization. Constitute the Boards’ committees, insure they receive the support necessary to carry out their charges, and hold them accountable for the implementation of their plans. Support and evaluate the Executive Director.

Committee on Directors / Nominating Committee:
Create a Board Profile consistent with the Strategic Plan to insure that the board is populated to carry out the plan and to insure diversity. Solicit interest from potential new board members to meet the profile and to replace members lost through term ex­piration and attrition and nominate them for election. Conduct annual elections. Take responsibility for Board life, monitor the performance of Board members, sanction members when required and acknowledge individual contributions at appropriate times.

Finance Committee:
Establish a strategic financial plan and build a sustainable fiscal program. Provide financial oversight for the staff and the organization in general. Support the fiscal needs of the other committees and act as the Board’s financial liaison. Oversee au­dits, tax reporting and any other non-profit financial reporting requirements.

Membership:
Develop the organizational and membership structures. Increase membership. Wel­come new members and plan programs and events to retain current members. Develop and oversee membership record keeping. Prepare an annual plan for mem­bership growth and retention with quantitative goals and a budget with projected in­come and expenses.

Educational Programs:
Establish, coordinate and facilitate an annual calendar of educational and training events. Support and partner with other educational efforts in the community. Pre­pare an annual plan for programs and education with quantitative goals and a budget. Collect and distribute that information to educate and enhance the knowledge of the design and development community to further the goals of a sustainable built environment.

Marketing Committee:
Increase awareness of DVGBC and the role it can play as a resource provider and advocate for green design in the Delaware Valley. Use internal and external communications to target markets through: publicity, events, collaborations, printed materials, web pages, a member’s directory and an annual report. Prepare an annual marketing plan for membership with quantitative goals and a budget with projected income and expenses.

Development and Sponsorship:
Create a list of potential sponsors for sustaining DVGBC as well as to support individual programs and events. Use Board members and committee members to approach potential organizations and individuals as sustaining or event sponsors. Insure that all sponsors receive appropriate benefits and acknowledgement. Insure that sponsors are asked to give again at appropriate time. Prepare an annual sponsorship plan with quantitative goals and a budget with projected income and expenses.

Outreach and Advocacy:
Advocate sustainability and green buildings in the Delaware Valley by focused outreach efforts to elected officials, civic leaders, business leaders, community leaders and local residents.  Develop a consistent message about sustainability and green buildings that is targeted to each of the main stakeholder groups and that makes the connections to their particular interests.
