Joseph Healy, AIA, LEED AP Chairman Managing Principal Wallace Roberts & Todd

As managing principal of WRT, Joe sets the strategic direction and oversees the operations of the firm. Joe has more than 20 years of experience as an architect. His project work includes the design and management of a wide range of public and residential buildings, both new and renovated. He has a particular interest in heritage-related work and has served as project director for many of WRT's historic and renovation projects, including museums, libraries, and educational facilities.

Christopher Minnich, LEED AP President Sustainability Analyst Re:Vision Architecture

Chris Minnich, LEED-AP, is a Sustainability Analyst for Re:Vision Architecture, a deep green architecture and sustainability consulting firm with offices in Philadelphia, PA and Berkeley, CA. In addition to leading diverse teams and project types through LEED certification that results in greener buildings and operations, Chris develops innovative processes and tools that support all of the projects at Re:Vision. Chris has 10 years of experience in R&D Engineering and is a graduate of Philadelphia University’s Masters of Science in Sustainable Design program. Chris first got involved with the DVGBC through the Emerging Professionals committee and has led efforts as a Board member in both Governance and Branch strategy.

Abigail Perlstein OBrien, AIA, LEED AP Vice Chair Sales Executive County Line Nursery

Since joining her firm in 2002, Ms. O'Brien has continually contributed to the success of many projects including a number of university and affordable housing projects, both new construction and adaptive reuse, throughout the Mid-Atlantic area.

An expert in sustainable design and green architecture, Ms. O'Brien is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where she received a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Patrick Bolger Vice President Senior Project Executive Turner Construction

Patrick Bolger is a Senior Project Executive at Turner with 32 years of industry experience. He was the leader of the construction team that just completed The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s new Translational Research Building, a $500+ million lab tower designed to achieve LEED® CI-Silver (the first phase is already LEED® CI-Silver) and is experienced in the effective application of LEED® principles to the construction process.

Jim Kerr Treasurer Director of Sustainability and Contract Manager IMC Construction

Jim Kerr has been with IMC Construction for 20 years, managing a large variety of construction projects for local and national clients. He currently serves as Director of Sustainability / Contract Manager. He is also a partner in the firm.

Christa Duelberg Kraftician, AIA, LEED AP Secretary Director Spillman Farmer Architects

Christa Duelberg-Kraftician AIA, LEED® AP is an Associate with Spillman Farmer Architects, a nationally recognized architectural firm based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She has designed a wide variety of architectural projects for universities, hospitals and healthcare providers, and corporations throughout the region, with a particular focus on technologically-sophisticated laboratory and clean room environments. She currently serves as the chair of the DVGBC Lehigh Valley Branch.

Christa is a registered architect in Pennsylvania as well as her native Germany. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Drexel University and a Diplom Engineer in Architecture from the University of Paderborn, Germany.

Mary Alcaraz, PE, LC, CEM, LEED AP BD+C Principal EwingCole

Mary is a Principal, lighting designer, electrical engineer, and energy manager with EwingCole, a national leader in architecture, engineering, interior design, planning and sustainable design. Mary is also a Board Member of the Charter High School for Architecture and Design, a Board Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Philadelphia Section, and is active in the Association of Energy Engineers. Mary’s presentations have included: “Intergrating Daylight Harvesting and Lighting Systems in New and Existing Buildings” at Lightfair International 2010; “Exceptional LEED Case Studies – Diverse Expertise inspires High-Performance Lighting” at Lightfair International 2009; ‘5 Steps to Daylighting Systems Integration’, Globalcon 2005. Mary has published several articles including: ”Six Strategies for Energy Savings in Community Cancer Centers," Oncology Today June 2010 and “Daylight on Display," Lighting Design + Application, February 2008 and has received numerous IES lighting awards for her projects.

Robert Cousar CEO Sustainable Construction Corporation

Mr. Cousar has over 15 years of residential building construction management and real estate development experience. Robert is a lifelong resident of the City of Philadelphia and a community activist for the East Parkside neighborhood. East Parkside is home to the Philadelphia Zoo, Please Touch Museum, and the School of the Future and draws between 1 and 2 million visitors a year.

Matt Dugan President DVL Automation

Matt Dugan, President, DVL Automation, has developed low cost Measurement & Verification (M&V) tools for LEED requirements utilizing Building Automation System (BAS) monitoring of HVAC equipment on point of uses basis rather than collective meters, and optimized a LEED-NC Gold project to achieve HVAC energy cost 32% lower than design target by utilizing remote monitoring & diagnostics from 2000 miles away. He has been an HVAC collaborator on LEED projects: 9-NC, 11-CS, 14-CI, & 3-EB, a total of 17 complete to date with 10 Silver, 4 Gold, & 3 Platinum. Matt has developed a  Network Operations Center(NOC) to support LEED projects nationally with Failure Detection & Diagnosis (FD&D) support for any energy use inconsistent with M&V plans, and has orchestrated use of BAS virtual metering and temperature control to shape building electrical loads to meet predefined load profile required for block & index pricing models and Integrated Wireless Building Automation System (BAS) with Cloud based support & diagnostic services for integrated sustainable projects.

Spencer Finch, P.E., LEED-AP, is the Director of Sustainable Development for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. He has nearly a decade of experience in the private sector, performing engineering consulting and environmental investigations.

Fern Gookin Director of Sustainability     Revolution Recovery

Fern Gookin, LEED AP, is the Director of Sustainability for Revolution Recovery, a company that provides a complete range of recycling services for the construction, manufacturing, commercial and residential markets throughout the Delaware Valley.  She is a graduate of Philadelphia University’s Masters of Science in Sustainable Design program, where her thesis project resulted in the formation of RAIR (Recycled Artist in Residency), a non-profit with a mission to create awareness about sustainability issues through art and design.

Brenda Gotanda, LEED AP Partner Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP

Brenda Gotanda is a Partner with the environmental and energy law firm of Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP and co-chairs the firm's sustainability practice group. She represents and counsels clients in regulatory compliance, transactional, permitting, and enforcement matters. Her practice includes green building, sustainability, alternative energy, permitting, due diligence, brownfield redevelopment, water and waste compliance, spill response, and site remediation. Ms. Gotanda is a LEED® Accredited Professional. She serves as Chair of the Radnor Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) and is a founder and Director Emeritus of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals of Greater Philadelphia (SWEP). Ms. Gotanda has also served as Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park. She earned her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law and her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Boston College.

David is Director of Construction and Corporate Operations for CPM Housing Group with offices located in Philadelphia, PA, Dover, DE, and Washington, DC. CPM is a Real Estate Development Company that provides housing throughout the mid-Atlantic region catering to a population of special needs, senior housing and low income individuals and families.

Laura Hansplant RLA, LEED AP Landscape Architect Independent Design and Planning Consultant

As a landscape architect specializing in sustainable design and planning, Laura is deeply committed to the ecological and cultural integrity of the places she works.  She brings a background in ecology, urban design, and natural resource management to help people develop long-term, sustainable designs that are healthy, functional, socially relevant, and that showcase the inherent beauty of their place. 
Laura has applied her blend of skills to master planning, site design, and construction projects for campus landscapes, corporate developments, urban streetscapes, and community parks throughout the eastern United States.  To each, she brings an enjoyment of collaboration, strategic planning and the application of research theory to design problems.  Building upon her Masters in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University, and fifteen years of experience as an associate at Andropogon Associates, Laura is now an independent landscape architect and sustainable design consultant.

Kim Ilardi, LEED AP BD+C Industry Specialist The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company

Kim Ilardi, LEED AP BD+C, is the Sustainability Specialist for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company were she helps to coordinate their sustainability efforts. Kim is the past Chair for the Delaware Branch of the DVGBC's Education and Programming Committee, and served as one of the Delaware Branch Representatives on the Branch Advisory Committee. Kim is also currently serving as one of the Member Reps for the USGBC MD chapter for the North East Corridor Regional Council of the USGBC.

Brad A. Molotsky Executive Vice President Brandywine Realty Trust

Brad A. Molotsky is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Brandywine Realty Trust--a NYSE listed, real estate investment trust.  Mr. Molotsky joined Brandywine as General Counsel and Secretary in October 1997.  Prior to joining Brandywine, he was a commercial transactions attorney at Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a member of NAREIT and serves as the Vice Chair of the Real Estate Roundtable’s Sustainability Taskforce. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Energy Efficient Building HUB – Commercial Buildings.

Mr. Molotsky received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware graduating cum laude and an MBA/JD from Villanova University’s School of Law and the College of Business and Finance with cum laude distinction.

Mark Purcell, AIA, CCM, LEED AP Director of Business Development Nason Construction

Mark Purcell, AIA, CCM, LEED AP, is a 20 year veteran in the design and construction industry with a unique blend of experience, having worked for design firms, a real estate developer, government agencies and a construction company. He is a NCARB board-certified architect registered in several states and is a certified construction manager recognized by the Construction Management Association of America. Mr. Purcell currently works for Nason Construction, a full service construction management, design-build, and general contracting firm with regional offices in Philadelphia, Wilmington and Salisbury, MD. He specializes in multi-million dollar construction projects for institutional, government, justice and higher-education clients with a focus on integrating sustainable design concept.

Michelle Robinson, LEED AP Sustainability & LEED Specialist Re:Vision Architecture

Michelle has practical experience on both the design end of projects (as a civil engineer and sustainability consultant) and on the contractor’s end (as a construction manager). She is a certified energy consultant and trainer for the Green Advantage program. Michelle’s understanding of sustainability from many perspectives—design through construction—helps to infuse green strategies and principles throughout a project.

Kristen Suzda, LEED AP Project Architect Atkin Olshin Schade Architects

Kristen has been active in the Emerging Professionals Committee of DVGBC since 2004, working to find ways to make green building accessible to those entering the field. She currently sits on the Board of Directors as the Emerging Professionals representative. In addition to her long experience with the Emerging Professionals Committee, Kristen holds masters degrees in Historic Preservation and Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and is constantly seeking ways to integrate cutting-edge sustainable technology into the inherently green act of recycling existing old buildings for new uses.

Marla Thalheimer, LEED AP Sustainability Manager Liberty Property Trust

Marla Thalheimer was named Liberty’s first Sustainability Manager in 2008 and is responsible for implementation of Liberty’s Corporate Strategic Plan as it relates to integrating sustainable practices throughout the organization. She works with Development, Leasing and Property Management to create extraordinary work environments that limit resource consumption, improve building performance and promote employee health and productivity. Marla is a LEED AP, serves on the Educational Programs Committee for DVGBC, and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management from the Harvard University Extension School.

Scott Ziegenfus Senior Applications Engineer Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.

Scott Ziegenfus is a Senior Applications Engineer with Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. Scott has an Electrical Engineering degree from Lafayette College and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Industry expert in Intelligent Sustainable Buildings and Smart Homes, Scott is an Educational Programs Chair for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the USGBC, serves on ASHRAE standards committees SPC 201 - Facility Smart Grid Information Model Committee and SSPC 135 - BACnet Committee, Vice-Chair of NEMA Mirror Committee to ASHRAE SPC 201 - Facility Smart Grid Information Model. Scott has sat on executive panels and taught classes at CEDIA Expo and InfoComm International.
