PS Property, LLC. Is building a three story, 2 bath, LEED Platinum registered home located in the New East Kensington area of Philadelphia at 2217 Coral St. This project was the featured “LEED GREEN” home used for training purposes for this year’s annual “Building Safety Month” by the City of Philadelphia’s L & I Department.
The three port authorities along the Delaware River--the Delaware River Port Authority, the South Jersey Port Corporation, and the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority--teamed up on a regional effort to improve the sustainability of their individual and collective operations. This initiative, called the Green Ports Initiative, will allow the participating authorities to have both immediate and long-range actions to meet their sustainability goals, operate with greater efficiency, and lessen their impact on the environment when fully implemented.
As of 2010, the 218,000-square-foot facility, housing 950 employees, is the third-largest new construction Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum level building on the planet. Evan Welsh, SAP AG’s global media relations specialist, explained it has ripple benefits, as well.
Entry to the building is through a passageway that features a floor comprised of recycled materials, including seashells and pieces of crushed bottles and glass and the bamboo drop ceiling.
Eight years after Corporate Headquarters Building 701 was completed as a ‘green’ building, Armstrong World Industries worked with Re:Vision Architecture to undertake a series of additional design and operational improvements to fully optimize the building and secure a LEED-Platinum rating from the US Green Building Council under the LEED For Existing Buildings (EB) program. In the end, Building 701 became the fifth building nationwide to achieve LEED-EB Platinum. The achievement set an example for the corporate world, promoting environmental responsibility and consciousness.
One Crescent Drive is a four-story Class A office building designed by world-renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern and was the first developer / investor owned LEED-CS Platinum building in the world. During construction, material and process selection reduced waste and transportation emissions while simultaneously improving efficiency by using over 40% of materials from local suppliers. Air pollution was reduced 40% by using recycled concrete, over 30% of the total construction material consisted of recycled content, and 95% of the total construction waste was recycled.
To reflect their environmental and educational mission, The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay hired Re:Vision Architecture to design a series of youthful green buildings that can also be used as teaching tools about environmental stewardship and green design. To kick-off the projects, RVA helped secure funding for a series of public design meetings ("charrettes") at each camp.
The
BCCF Headquarters is more than a physical building project—it is a community building project. Through a collaborative process, educational outreach, and compelling design, the project has created a ripple effect by inspiring other owners and developers to build more sustainably. With this larger community goal in mind, BCCF challenged the team to set an example of environmental stewardship that is economically defensible.
Friends Center’s 1.26-acre campus includes the historic Race Street Meetinghouse, built in 1856, and a 56,000SF office building, constructed in 1972.
Built by award winning builder Creswell & Company, the Koenig residence is the first single family home in the state of Pennsylvania to attain a LEED platinum certification. This home and Creswell & Company are finalists in the prestigious 2010 Energy Value Housing Awards under the voluntary builders challenge program (by the US DOE and NAHB. Built from 2007-2008 this home is a model for green building, with a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) score of 24.
