Schedule:
Carpool meet-up at 1:30 PM. Tour begins at 2 PM at 1st location. Meeting for carpool is at the Chester County Visitors Center at 300 Greenwood Rd., Kennett Square PA 19348, 1:30 PM. Parking is the right of the visitor center and is shared with the fire station.

Program:
Please caravan with us in scenic Chester County to visit three exciting examples of green building in the Delaware Valley. Our first home will be the residence of State Representative Chris Ross and Cecilia Ross, recently featured in Garden Design magazine for its sustainable approach to the garden as well as the home. This home features a green roof, a storm water collection system, solar panels, passive solar features in the home design as well as garden plantings, an earthen ramp on the north side for insulation resembling traditional bank barns in the area, use of local and recycled materials and a ½ acre meadow utilizing native species plantings.

The next home, currently under construction, will be a single family home nestled on a hilltop on 10 acres of undeveloped woodlands. A simple barn-like structure, 60 Bragg Hill, pays homage to rural Chester County while utilizing state of the art sustainable building practices and technologies: insulated concrete forms, structural insulated panels, photovoltaic system, geothermal heating, and recycled rain water. Recycled materials and local resources were used exclusively. Trees from Bragg Hill which were milled on site for flooring, stairs and timber frames."

Rounding up our tour will be the sustainable Stargazers Vineyard and passive solar home built by Sunwood Builders whose design is based on the Cincinnati Ekosea home. The property features 54 solar panels providing about 10,000 kw per year to the home and vineyard as well as a rainwater cistern. Impressively this home has no heating, electric or water bills.

Our tour will conclude with light snacks and an optional wine tasting at Stargazers Vineyard.
*Wine tasting is an additional $5 per person the day of the event and paid directly to Stargazers Vineyard.
