Best of CleanMed 2010 brings to Philadelphia two sessions from the CleanMed conference held in Baltimore in 2010. CleanMed is the premier global conference on environmentally sustainable healthcare. The conference brings together vendors of environmentally preferable products and services or nutritious, sustainable foods with healthcare leaders at the forefront of implementing sustainability projects, green building design, and environmentally preferable purchasing.
The first, “You Can’t Manage What You Don’t Measure,” details how the use of qualitative and quantitative base lining tools can contribute to a clear understanding of where an organization is starting from on the sustainability spectrum and how it informs strategic goal development, improves an organization’s environmental position and realize financial benefits.
The second, “Nurses Leading Change,” highlights how nurses, in their unique role of protecting public health and being highly trusted by the public, can create change in the hospital setting to manage environmental risks that can impact employees, patients, and the community.

Keynote welcome address will be delivered by George W. Gephart, Jr., President & CEO of Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences and Board Chair of Main Line Health System
Keynote closing remarks will be delivered by Larry Merlis, President & CEO, Abington Health and Abington Memorial Hospital
The evening will include an opportunity to network over appetizers and beverages and to meet hospital leaders engaged in moving hospitals toward more sustainable practices.
