Join the Delaware Valley Green Building Council Residential Circle to examine three very different answers to building Green in the City. Thin Flats in Northern Liberties - the first LEED Platinum Duplex in the country. Bancroft Green, just south of South Street, are new energy efficient townhomes; Montrose Green, on nearby Montrose Street, aims for LEED Platinum status and is an innovative re-working of a Philadelphia rowhome. We will also visit New Market, LEED gold pending.

See the application of Green and energy efficient strategies including:
• Only residential multi-unit geothermal project in town (Bancroft)
• Solar water heating, smart systems (thin Flats)

• Green vegetated roofs, Rain Water Harvesting
• Many sustainable and reclaimed materials throughout, including brick façade, roof patio pavers; FSC Certified Woods & Recycled Metals
• Salvaging and Recycling
• Passive (Natural) & Active (Mechanical) Ventilation
• Day Lighting & Sun Shading
• No- and Low-VOC Paints & Stains / No Carpet
• Soy Based Spray Foam Building Insulation
• Low-Flow & dual-flush Plumbing Fixtures
• “Expanding the envelope” – extending upwards
• Compare the impact of Energy Star vs LEED certification
