Co-sponsored by BMFI and the Delaware Valley Green Building Council
One sector of our economy—green construction—is thankfully thriving, and “green collar jobs” are widely seen as key to recovery. The Greening of Southie is an engaging documentary about the construction of South Boston’s first certified residential green building, chronicling the obstacles the project’s young developer overcomes to complete this ambitious project. With bamboo from China, sustainable wood from Bolivia, dual flush toilets from Australia, and sweat from Boston, the film explores not only green buildings, but their impact on neighbors, residents and workers. After the movie, green builders and architects—Howard Steinberg of Onion Flats, Dan Kelley of MGA Partners (designers of Haverford School’s upper school), Jennifer Rezeli of Re:Vision Architecture, and James Kerr of IMC Construction—discusses the film in a conversation led by Mike Weilbacher.
No pre-registration required. Admission for film costs $9.50 adults, $5 senior citizens.
