Sustainable Suburban Living & Energy Saving
Saturday, August 29th 2009; 10am - 2pm

Join us to see three examples of green home practices in the heart of Delaware County. First see an in-progress energy audit performed by an Energy Star, RESNET and BPI Certified audit team with a focus on sustainability. Watch and ask questions as they audit and assess an existing circa 1948 suburban home prior to an energy saving, sustainable rehabilitation project. Next we will visit one investor’s answer to greening his new single family rental property. Among the many green features of this home are passive solar design techniques and a grid-tied solar PV shingle system that generates 96% of the tenant’s electrical usage! Last stop is a LEED for Homes Silver Certified residence featuring low impact development practices and solar hot water with passive rock storage. Lunch is included with the tour.
See the application of Green and Energy Efficient strategies including:
• Energy saving & sustainable planning for an existing home
• Blower door testing, differential pressure testing and collection of
solar data as part of a home energy audit
• Energy Star’s “whole house” approach to home energy use
• Passive solar design techniques
• UniSolar amorphous solar PV shingles
• Waste water heat exchanger
• Natural landscaping
• Solar hot water with passive rock storage
• Heat recovery ventilators
