The USGBC has revised the widely recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Building Rating System and released a new version- LEED 2009. The Council has introduced new prerequisites, tightened the referenced standards, created new regional priority credits, re-assigned point values to many existing credits, and harmonized the points required for certification across the rating systems. Energy costs are spiraling due to the cost of fuels on world markets and lifting the caps on electric rates. For instance, a rate with caps for Philadelphia region electric rates approved by the Pennsylvania PUC is set to expire after 2010. Oil and natural gas costs are rising dramatically. There are many cost efficient methods available to reduce energy expenses which can make a dramatic difference in the bottom line for a business, and maybe its survival. Start: 8:30 am
