October 10, 2002 The first completed project of The Engineering and Design Studio @ Philadelphia University involved the design and renovation of a floor of an old textile mill at 4111 Pechin Street in the Roxborough/Manayunk section of Philadelphia. The space will house the Studios new headquarters and includes space for the new Sustainable Design Resource Center. The opening on October 10, 2002, was well attended by approximately 200 interested people and was sponsored through the generosity of Kempf Supply Company, Re:Source PA/BentleyPrinceStreet/Interface Flooring Systems, and Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Center contains books, tapes, CD-ROM's, web access, green material samples and displays to assist local companies in designing and constructing sustainable buildings and interiors. LEED materials are also available on site. The Center is co-sponsored by Philadelphia University and DVGBC, and is open by appointment. Off street parking is available and there is easy access by public transportation. More information and a map can be found at the Green Resources section of this site.
