Bill Reed of Natural Logic Lectures at
Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia

On October 22nd, Bill Reed of Natural Logic spoke to our DVGBC audience about "Integrated Design in a Disintegrated World". The practice of green design inevitably leads one to embrace an integrated design process to efficiently optimize cultural, engineered and natural systems. Because these systems have no boundaries green design logically expands the role of the designer to address complex environmental and social issues.

Whether we call it architecture, planning, or ecological design - defining successful design in terms of our engagement in improving the quality of life in both cultural and natural systems offers a fundamental way to help us recognize and reestablish inter-relationships with our planet’s life support systems. This thinking will help move us beyond the current state of green design – one that tends to focus on ‘limiting the damage’ rather than the opportunities to improve overall system health.

William G. Reed, AIA, a practicing architect for 20 years and Vice President – Integrative Design at Natural Logic, is one of the nation's leading experts on green design. He actively promotes the belief that green architecture makes economic as well as environmental sense.
