Objective

As states and local entities adopt ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 (e.g. New Jersey has adopted theStandard into their building code and Pennsylvania is about to adopt the Standard into their building codes), ASHRAE is responding to multiple requests to provide training regarding the Standard. The Standard sets the minimum requirements for energy use in buildings except low-rise residential buildings andthe methodology to attain these goals. The Standard differs from past Standards as it addresses not only new construction but also renovations to existing facilities.

Architects, Engineers, Building Owners, Code Officials, Building Managers, Contractors, Students, and other parties involved with construction, renovation, and operation of facilities.

Checks/cash will be collected at registration on the day of the seminar. Any person/company registering for the seminar but not attending will be invoiced for the seminar and will receive a copy of Standard 90.1 and the Users manual upon receipt of full payment and handling charges. Registration Fees

The fee for the seminar is $100.00. Full Time Students are invited at a 50% discount of $50.00.

This fee includes:

Instruction regarding the Standard to be presented by eminent industry professionals.

Copies of both Standard 90.1-2001 and the associated Users Manual. If purchased independently the cost for these would be $195.00 (non-ASHRAE members) and $157.00 (ASHRAE members).

Buffet Lunch.

Speakers

Lawrence G. Spielvogel, PE
Currently an ASHRAE Director at Large and a member of its Technology Council. Mr. Spielvogel previously chaired the ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 Project Committee, ASHRAE Standard 105 on Building Energy Performance, the Standard 90 Panel on HVAC Systems, and ASHRAE technical committees on energy utilization, computer applications, and service water heating. He is also a Fellow of CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers)(England), a member of the ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies), and a member of many other technical societies.

Valerie Block
With over twenty years experience in the architectural glass industry, Ms. Block serves on ASHRAEs Standard 90.1 Building Envelope Committee, as well as on numerous industry codes and standards organizations, including the Glazing Industry Code Committee, the National Fenestration Rating Council, and the American Society for Testing Materials. Ms. Block is the former Technical Director for the Primary Glass Manufacturers Council.

Ken Strup, CxA
Since 1970, Mr. Strup has been involved in the facilities industry. He is a member of numerous technical societies including: ASHRAE, BCA, AEE, BOMA, USGBC, and others, together with serving on boards and technical committees. He holds patents on HVAC systems, has instructed on HVAC principles/practices and has been recognized for his efforts regarding propagating the professional practice of Commissioning (Guideline-1), Energy Conservation (Standard 90.1) and Building Operations (Guideline-4) in the industry.

Fred Hauber, CLMC
A Lighting Designer with over 30 years field experience, Mr. Hauber is a co-author for the IES Lighting Retrofit Manual. He has presented seminars for the NJ DEP, Association of Energy Engineers, Maryland Plant and Engineering Group, Globalcon, NALMCO, IES, and others. He has written articles and taught on Retrofit and Re-lighting Design, Hi-Bay Lighting Design Techniques, Cutting Edge Fluorescent Lighting for Commercial/Industrials, Efficient Lighting Design for Maximum Efficiency & Minimum Energy, Fluorescent vs. HID, and other subjects. Society membership includes IES, NALMCO, AEE, and past Chapter Vice President of the National Association of Power Engineers.
