Wednesday, October 20, 2004 Green buildings are designed to increase energy and resource efficiency, cut waste, and improve the performance of buildings and facilities. Run at the taxpayers expense, it is critical that government buildings meet the highest possible standards for building construction and operation. Collectively, American federal, state and local governments construct and operate more buildings and administer more resources than any group in the world. With this in mind, a tremendous opportunity exits to use government purchasing power to positively impact both the environment and the economy. On October 20, 2004 from 9:15 to 12:00 at the EPA Regional Office 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 3 and the Delaware Valley Green Building Council will present: Green Buildings in Government Day. National and local experts will present the latest green building policy and successes as they impact governments at the federal, state and local level. This workshop is free of charge and open to anyone in facilities management, design and operations to learn about how their buildings are being impacted by this new thinking. If you are working on a project and would like to share your experience, ideas or issues, please feel free to stay for some personal conversation with national experts from GSA, EPA and the US Green Building Council.
