Continuing Ed. Credits:
This program is worth 1.0 AIA/CES (HSW) LUs.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) rating system is a powerful tool for evaluating the "environmental performance" of building and construction projects. Utilizing recent case studies, José Almiñana will illustrate the manner in which landscape architects and planners can significantly increase ecosystem health and cultural well-being of project sites when collaborating with design and construction professionals at the beginning of the design process. He will describe in concrete terms how site and landscape design strategies contribute to fulfilling LEED certification while providing holistic integration of the built project with biophysical systems.

José Almiñana, RLA, ASLA is a principal at Andropogon Associates, Ltd., a Philadelphia-based landscape architecture firm. He is a LEED™ Accredited Professional and serves as a visiting lecturer at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. His varied presentation experience includes lectures to the Society for Campus and University Planning, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and the Mid-Atlantic Sustainability Conference. He received a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is a registered landscape architect in twelve eastern states.
