April 14, 2005 Continuing Ed. Credits: The PNC Bank committed to greening new branch banks following the success of the PNC Firstside Center, a 650,000 sf LEED Silver Certified office building. Scott Peters of Clemens Construction and Eric Brill of Gensler Architects will discuss strategies they are implementing to maximize the sustainable potential of these branch banks while meeting budget constraints. They will present facts and figures describing their ongoing efforts and answer audience questions. Eric Brill, RA, Associate is a Project Manager in the New York Wall Street office of Gensler, the worldwide architectural firm consisting of over 1800 persons in 26 offices. Gensler has a global task force on sustainable design, which focuses on disseminating knowledge and building the industry partnerships that are essential to successful sustainable projects. Gensler is designing and managing the rollout of the new 3,650 sf, LEED Gold-level certified, retail branch prototype bank for PNC Financial Services. The prototype building is adaptable for multiple sites, orientation, and microclimates, and it maintains a recognizable brand for PNC Bank and a high performance standard for their buildings. PNC Bank plans to build over 90 such LEED-certified branches a first in the banking and retail industry. PNC is currently the only U.S. bank with green branches (seven in three states). With its program, PNC will be the first company to build LEED-certified buildings on a volume-build or roll-out basis. Schedule: Special thanks to Carpenters Hall for their hospitality. |
