Sustainable Structural Engineering

David Mar will present structural engineering from a sustainable perspective. He will discuss straw-bale construction and the structural engineer's role in an integrated approach to sustainable design.
David Mar is a principal at Tipping Mar + associates of Berkeley, California. The firm has received accolades from the Structural Engineers Association of California, the National Council of Structural Engineers Association, and the American Institute of Steel Construction. The firm has international experience and recently completed research into the application of straw bale construction to shear walls vaulted roofs.
