Wednesday, June 7, 2006 Professional Credits: What is LEED for Existing Buildings? The LEED Green Building Rating System for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) is a set of performance standards for the sustainable operation of existing buildings. The LEED-EB criteria cover building operations and systems upgrades in existing buildings where the majority of interior or exterior surfaces remain unchanged. The U.S. Green Building Council offers a full-day LEED-EB Technical Review workshop. The workshop will address strategies to advance existing buildings to a sustainable level of operation, upgrade and reduce building operating costs, solve building operation problems, improve indoor environment, and support higher productivity of building occupants On-site sign-in and registration for the workshop begins at 8:00 am, and the workshop will take place from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Visit the McCall Meeting & Conference Center website for information regarding directions, parking and maps. Optional Purchase: LEED-EB v2.0 Reference Guide ($125 with workshop registration) A 486-page O&M guideline for high-performance buildings and a user's manual for the LEED for Existing Buildings Green Building Rating System (for operations and maintenance of commercial buildings). LEED-EB provides a tool for building owners, managers and practitioners to maximize the operational efficiency of their buildings while minimizing environmental impacts. The Reference Guide is essential for LEED-EB certification. |
