Thursday, November 13, 2008 Continuing Ed. Credits: Energy from the sun, the most underused energy source on the planet, will become more viable than ever before as the cost of energy continues to rise. This coupled with global warming and the peak oil crisis will make it a professional necessity to be informed on the use and implementation of solar water heating systems. Come for intermediate level seminar that will expand your knowledge beyond just familiarity with the basic technology. The session will focus on Solar Water Heating applications. Topics include; an overview of the technology, types of collectors, criteria for system selection, sizing and configuration, mounting scenarios and maintenance. Case studies will illustrate problem solving and integration with the architecture design and building systems and finally lessons learned. Time allowing funding opportunities will be discussed. Meet the Speakers: Jurgen G. Balitzky is the principal of Energy Alternatives and has worked in the solar thermal industry for the past eight years. Jurgen has one of the largest test bed solar thermal systems in residential use in the Middle Atlantic States. He is a frequent speaker at regional solar forums such as Habitat for Humanities and The Association of Facilities Engineers. Schedule: |
