PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), a chapter of the US Green Building Council, has named Heather Shayne Blakeslee its Educational Programs Coordinator. DVGBC has been a leader in the USGBC network, emerging as the primary regional resource for those living and working in southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware on sustainable planning, design, construction and operation of buildings, landscapes, cities and communities.
Prior to being named programs coordinator, Heather served as Associate Director for the $3M+ Capital Campaign for Friends Center, a progressive environmentally sensitive renovation project in Center City.
When speaking about her new role, Blakeslee said, "The momentum for sustainable planning and development in this region is encouraging and inspiring. I look forward to working with other progressive leaders to make the Delaware Valley and the state of Pennsylvania a national leader in sustainability and environmental justice."
Among other responsibilities, Blakeslee will manage a national commercial contractor training program that prepares construction personnel to become Green Advantage certified. The rapidly growing program will help the construction industry meet the demand for sustainable buildings throughout the country.
