Collaborative Learning: Temple Tiny House

Multiple Locations
Tue, 10/24/2017 - 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Note this event will start at Temple Community Garden at 5:30 pm, then move to Temple Architecture at 6:00 pm.
In June 2014, Temple’s Office of Sustainability gathered a diverse group of faculty members engaged in sustainability within their disciplines to explore collaborative and interdisciplinary learning opportunities at the University. The outcome of the conversation was a one-day student design charrette with the goal of designing a sustainable tiny house that would be sited at Temple Community Garden. The success of the charrette led to the creation of a design-build course in 2016 in which an interdisciplinary group of students participated.
Please join us at Temple University on Tuesday, October 24th to hear from students and faculty members on how they made the project happen. We’ll look at how the courses were structured, how students and faculty were engaged, successes, and lessons learned. Participants will have the opportunity to walk through the project prior to the start of the event.
If you’re an educator, student, or design professional that wants to know about the current state of sustainable education in higher education, this event is for you. Participants will be able to ask speakers questions as part of a panel discussion at the end of the night. The event is part of Temple’s Campus Sustainability Week. We hope you can make it!
Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
